Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of the CatChat apps and the catchat.is website ("CatChat", "we"). By using CatChat, you agree to them.

Who can use CatChat

You must be at least 13 years old to use CatChat on your own. Younger children should use it with a parent or guardian's permission and supervision.

What CatChat is (and isn't)

CatChat is an entertainment companion. The cat's replies are generated by an AI model running on your device. They can be inaccurate, odd, or incomplete, and they are not medical, legal, financial, or any other kind of professional advice. If you or someone you know needs help, talk to a qualified human — the cat will tell you the same thing.

Acceptable use

Don't use CatChat to break the law, to harm yourself or others, or to generate content that is illegal, harassing, or exploitative. Use of the on-device AI model is additionally subject to the use restrictions of its upstream license (see "AI model license" below), which are incorporated into these terms as an enforceable provision.

Your content

Your conversations belong to you. They are processed on your device and never transmitted to us — see the Privacy Policy. Because we never receive your content, we cannot recover it for you if you delete it or lose your device.

AI model license

The on-device model that powers the cat is built from Gemma. Gemma is provided under and subject to the Gemma Terms of Use found at ai.google.dev/gemma/terms. Your use of the model through CatChat must comply with the Gemma Prohibited Use Policy, which is incorporated into these terms. This notice exists to satisfy that license; it is the only place we will bore you with it.

No warranty

CatChat is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We don't warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising from your use of CatChat, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the app (currently: nothing).

Changes

We may update these terms; material changes will be reflected by the effective date above. Continuing to use CatChat after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Mexico, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
